{"id":1250,"date":"2015-06-27T12:20:37","date_gmt":"2015-06-27T12:20:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/?p=1250"},"modified":"2015-12-09T10:57:36","modified_gmt":"2015-12-09T10:57:36","slug":"un-tour-por-fuerteventura-en-4-dias-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/en\/un-tour-por-fuerteventura-en-4-dias-3\/","title":{"rendered":"A four-day tour on Fuerteventura"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\">DAY 3<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2>Today, on this third day of tour around Fuerteventura, we suggest putting aside sport activities, as we have already had enough of them for the last two days (here we leave you the links for days <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/four-day-tour-around-fuerteventura%E2%80%A8\/\" target=\"_blank\">1<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/4-day-tour-fuerteventura\/\" target=\"_blank\">2<\/a> of this tour, in case you haven\u2019t read them yet).<\/h2>\n<p>As Fuerteventura is not only the north, which is what we have been visiting so far, on this third day we suggest a trip to the centre of the island so you meet the inland villages, which keep a great deal of the history of this island.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll set off from Corralejo taking the FV-101 towards the centre of the island. The first thing we\u2019ll find on our way will be the small village of Villaverde, on the mountain side of Escanfraga, the highest volcanic cone on the island.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1253\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1253\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Escanfraga-Fuerteventura.jpg\" alt=\"Excursiones Fuertecharter | Tour por Fuerteventura: d\u00eda 3\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Escanfraga-Fuerteventura.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Escanfraga-Fuerteventura-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9centolo_negro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In Villaverde you\u2019ll find the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/cueva-llano-fuerteventura\/\" target=\"_blank\">Museo de la Cueva del Llano<\/a>, an underground lava tube which visitors can go through, provided with helmet and frontal lantern, while guides tell about the volcanic origin\u00a0 of Fuerteventura and the curiosities of this land thousands of years ago. We must highlight that Fuerteventura is the oldest of the Canary Islands and that the last volcano that erupted did it 10.000 million years ago (Mona\u00f1a de la Arena).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1107\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1_2012_1.jpg\" alt=\"FuerteCharter Excursiones | History Fuerteventura\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1_2012_1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1_2012_1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From Villaverde we\u2019ll go on inland,\u00a0 passing through the village of La Oliva, which is the head of a municipality in the notth of Fuerteventura, where you can visit \u201cLa Casa de los Coroneles\u201d, an ancient fortress from the second half of the XVII century, which today is used as an exhibition hall, showing the life on the island at a time of all-powerful landowners.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1254\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1254\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/casa-de-los-coroneles-fuerteventura-06.jpg\" alt=\"Excursiones Fuertecharter | Tour por Fuerteventura: d\u00eda 3\" width=\"940\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/casa-de-los-coroneles-fuerteventura-06.jpg 940w, https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/casa-de-los-coroneles-fuerteventura-06-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9lacasadeloscoroneles.org<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We keep going southbound, through the village of Tindaya and its holy mountain, which has given rise to many discrepancies at present due to the controversial work which is to be carried out inside it; and from there we go on to Tefia, taking the FV-207 after Tindaya.<\/p>\n<p>Once we go past Tefia we\u2019ll take the FV-30 to Betancuria, a quite winding and narrow mountain road, so we recommend extreme caution when driving.<\/p>\n<p>The lookout point Morro Velosa (669m), designed by the versatile man C\u00e9sar Manrique, will welcome us to let us see one of the most breathtaking views on the island. This greenery and fertility were the reasons why conquerors settled in this land the first capital of the islands, back in the XV century. We must highlight the visit to Santa Maria Chuch-Cathedral, one of the most impressive historic buildings on the island.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-961\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/DSC_0236.jpg\" alt=\"Excursiones Fuertecharter | Tour por Fuerteventura: d\u00eda 3\" width=\"2500\" height=\"3735\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/DSC_0236.jpg 2500w, https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/DSC_0236-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/DSC_0236-685x1024.jpg 685w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2500px) 100vw, 2500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We keep heading south, discovering treasures of Fuerteventura. The next urban core we go through is P\u00e1jara, where visitors going on tour from north to south are very common. The shrine of Nuestra se\u00f1ora de Regla, in P\u00e1jara, has a precious main altarpiece, restored a couple of years ago by master craftsmen from our island.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1257\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1257\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/P%C3%A1jara_village_-_Plaza_de_Nuestra_Se%C3%B1ora_de_Regla-FV-30_-_Iglesia_in_09_ies.jpg\" alt=\"Excursiones Fuertecharter | Tour por Fuerteventura: d\u00eda 3\" width=\"1417\" height=\"945\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9commons.wikimedia.org<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And from P\u00e1jara we\u2019ll head to the Western coast, taking the FV-621, until getting to the little village of Ajuy, a haven for fishermen with a gorgeous black sand beach and stunning caves which tourists can visit following a signposted route along the coastline.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1258\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1258\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/04-grotte-di-ajuy-b.jpg\" alt=\"Excursiones Fuertecharter | Tour por Fuerteventura: d\u00eda 3\" width=\"1400\" height=\"843\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/04-grotte-di-ajuy-b.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/04-grotte-di-ajuy-b-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/04-grotte-di-ajuy-b-1024x617.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9www.visitafuerteventura.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ajuy is a place where throngs of tourists flock to the few restaurants you find in the village to enjoy fresh fish, but if you don\u2019t like crowds we recommend having some home-made rations in P\u00e1jara, before getting to Ajuy.<\/p>\n<p>And to help digestion, nothing better than going for a walk in El barranco de Las Pe\u00f1itas , which you can access form the village of Buen Paso (between Ajuy and P\u00e1jara). There you find a cliff made of granite blocks, which offers a landscape very different from the rest of the island. Big blocks of granite rise up on the edges of what, no doubt, once must have been a little river,\u00a0 when there was water. Nowadays there is nothing but pools of stagnant water which flow on the rainy days of winter. This area of the island is a treasure for mountain climbers, as this is one of the few areas in Fuerteventura where you can climb.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1260\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1260\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/penitas-02b.jpg\" alt=\"Excursiones Fuertecharter | Tour por Fuerteventura: d\u00eda 3\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/penitas-02b.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/blog.fuertecharter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/penitas-02b-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9www.visitafuerteventura.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>El barranco de Las Pe\u00f1itas is named after La ermita de la Virgen de la Pe\u00f1a (shrine), placed within it, another story that makes up the past of these lands; and at the highest part of the cliff we find the well known \u201cPresa de las Pe\u00f1itas\u201d, with no apparent function at present.<\/p>\n<p>And after this evening walk it\u2019s time to head back north.
